Consultations are as wide ranging as people and their homes,
but to give you a flavour of my work here are some snap shots:

Their home: 2 story apartment in a large four storey house,
built in 1890s. In a conservation area of London.
They were wanting to extend the apartment to create a study and improve its connection with the garden.
Previous design proposals were too expensive and not really
providing what they wanted.

The consultation:
We went back to first principles to discuss how they want to be able to use their home, taking a fresh look at various options, the pros and cons, sketching, walking and talking them all through. Arriving at a new and more cost effective design feasibility that they much preferred.
On a subsequent day I then introduced them to a local architect who picked up from our feasibility discussions to progress the project.

Client feedback:
Having decided to extend our apartment 2 years ago, we had worked with a design company to design an extension, but had reached a point at which we were not happy with the proposed design, quite confused and unclear how to move forward. Meeting with Beverley redirected our ideas and helped take us back to first principles. With her we worked through what we had originally wanted from the extension, how we really wanted to use the space and we reviewed all the options available. Her clarity, vision and expertise really helped to make sense of what we wanted to achieve. On top of this she was able to refer a wonderful architect who has been able to turn this
vision into a reality. Without her help I really think the whole project would never have been completed.

Her home: 2 storey semi-detached house, built 1930s,
Lizzie has lived here for 9 years.
She is about to retire and wants to maximize her comfort at home, especially as she is recovering from chronic illness.
She wants somewhere indoors with more light and better access to the garden.

The consultation:
We discussed how Lizzie wanted to live in her home, the feasibility of extending it into the rear garden within the parameters of planning restrictions, and ways to make it a light and bright space. We paced it out so that she could picture herself actually sitting in the new space. We also discussed the steps for moving forwards to make these ideas into reality. The extension was built 2 years later.

Client feedback:
The process of architectural brainstorming was fascinating and enjoyable. While I had an idea of the sort of designs I want for the kitchen and possible new ‘Dream Room’ I was completely unsure about whether any of it was feasible. Also, with no one to talk to about my ideas I felt completely without confidence and considered that it wasn’t even a good idea. You were able to offer pragmatic comments and solutions as well as creative idea developments. I was really happy that we ‘paced out’ in the garden the possible new room area as doing so helped me to get a feel for the scale and space of the room. It also helped that you were able to ‘put some flesh on the bones’ by the simple act of drawing a sofa on the plan. Discussions about materials and finishes, and the grounded reasons for them, brought the picture even more into focus.

You also picked up on my wants as well as my needs in relation to the spaces. I felt supported in my ‘dreams’ as you didn’t put me on the spot with negative criticisms and listened carefully to my tentative suggestions about mood as well as space and structure. Your special sensitivity to a client’s mood or emotions is a great asset when doing this sort of work – that’s something rare in an architect in my experience! When I met up with my coaching supervisor recently I referred to our meeting as ‘coaching through architecture’ as the ‘work’ you did was more than designing and specifying a room; it also helped me to open up to myself about what I want going forward in my life not just what I want out of a building. Thank you. Lizzie, Nottingham

Healthy House Survey case studies

Client: Joanna

Her home: A 3 bed semi-detached house, built in 1930s,
in a suburban neighbourhood, Leicestershire.

Joanna had just bought and moved into her new home, and wanted to make sure it was a healthy place to live.

The consultation:
I made a range of health checks:
Geopathic Stress – to make sure that she and her family would be sleeping in a safe place.
Electromagnetic Fields and Radio/Microwave Fields – to make sure the house had no elevated fields from exterior or interior sources, such as phone masts, power lines, rail tracks, telephones, house wiring and internal appliances.
Radon, mould, and other air quality issues.
I discussed all that I found and made a number of recommendations – some things to simply be aware of and other things that could easily be resolved. In this case I also offered suggestions for new paints, new flooring, beds, and telephones.
My client was happy that her new home, as well as being a major financial investment, was an investment in the health of her family too.

Client feedback:
Choosing somewhere to live nowadays is such a minefield, there are so many things to consider.
I really liked the house but was concerned about the 3 phone masts relatively nearby.
I had also heard that it was important to avoid geopathic stress where you have your bed.
So it was fantastic to actually see the readings on the meters you brought with you, and to check the electrics in the house too, as well as the land energies.

The consultation was extremely informative and empowering. You gave me the knowledge I needed in such a clear, concise and calm manner, together with your recommendations, and it put my mind at ease.
I have taken onboard your suggestions, including even which materials to avoid when decorating.
I’m now getting a much better quality of sleep than in my previous house (and the guests I’ve had since then have all commented on how well they have slept)….I feel thoroughly refreshed and full of energy every morning. And the cloying headaches I used to wake up with have disappeared.

My home now feels supportive and nurturing to myself and all who come here, and I can rest assured that I have a new home that supports mine and my family’s health. Everyone should do this when they move into a new home! Joanna, Leicestershire

logo IIClient: Steph + Mark

Their home: A 3 bed end of terrace house, built in 1960s,
in a residential neighbourhood, Surrey.

Steph and Mark are both health aware and mindful of things in their environment. They wanted to check their home for anything that could be impacting their health.

The consultation:
I made the usual range of health checks:
There was no geopathic stress where their bed was located, however there were some elevated dirty electricity measurements throughout the house, which reduced significantly when we plugged in filters to clean up the electrical circuits.
There were minimal measurements on my meters from any local phone masts, which were quite a distance from their street. Other electromagnetic fields and radio/microwave fields from interior sources – particularly their dimmer switches, Mark’s amplifier controls and the neighbour’s wifi – could all be reduced with some simple adaptations.
I also did a body voltage test, to show the effect of the EMFs in their home on each of them in turn. I then demonstrated the beneficial effect of earthing, using an earthing sheet for their bed. They were delighted.

After seeing the range of checks and meter readings, together with the effects of making some simple changes, Steph and Mark were happy to make these changes knowing they would improve the impact of their home on their health.

Client feedback:
It was fascinating to see the immediate reduction in your meter reading once the filters were plugged in. We both instantly felt calmer, as if a buzz that we weren’t aware of before had been instantly silenced. Wow.
Your demonstration of the earthing sheet was enlightening too, and so we’ve been using it since and even took it on holiday with us last month. We also use one at our desks. We love the feel of it.
Thank you for your recommendations for the new bed we are planning to buy, they were invaluable. It has put our minds at ease knowing that we are now safe in our home from any harmful energies.
It was so worth having you visit. We are following your recommendations and really noticing the difference, thank you.
I also want to say that we were reassured by your clear explanations. It’s great to know there are experts trained to make these healthy house checks as it’s such an important thing for people to do in their homes.

Space Clearing case studies

logo IIClient: Emma + husband + two children 4yrs/ 18 mths old.

Their home: 3 storey house, built 1760s near Bristol.
Grade II Listed Building.
Emma and her family had lived here for 3 years.
Although they had extensively renovated the property, they never felt at home here. They were unable to relax, always on edge and uneasy, not sleeping well, and feeling very unsettled.

The consultation:
I worked with Emma whilst her husband took care of their children out of the house for the day.
I found a line of Geopathic Stress that Emma and her husband, as well as one of their children, had been sleeping on until one month ago. This would have been affecting their quality of sleep and rest.
The Space Clearing cleared the imprints of 250 years’ occupant history, lifted the heavy atmosphere, and landed a new bright quality of space into the house.
A separate and different clearing afterwards addressed an additional stuck fragment and cleared the uneasy sensation.
Afterwards Emma kept looking around as if she’d never clearly seen her home before. The house felt different; light and buoyant, felt bigger inside, looked clearer, the colours brighter.

The family felt at home for the first time and are now enjoying their lives again.

Client feedback:
The difference is quite incredible. I no longer look over my shoulder as to who may jump out. I feel free of baggage, alive in my body and real air in my lungs. Secure and happy for the first time in my entire life. The kids have sparkle again. My son is less sporadic and uneasy; he laughs, lounges and tells us continuously how happy he is. My toddler has been smiling, dancing and walking. I’ve noticed light within her eyes now, which I had previously overlooked due to my own unsettled feelings. No one is uneasy anymore. I’ve slept better than I ever have.
You have changed our lives and allowed this to be our home. We are utterly bowled over
and thrilled with the new energy!

I have been waxing lyrical to everyone I meet about you and what you do. I don’t completely understand how it works but I’m astounded by its affect. It has started our lives again.
Thank you beyond thanking.
Emma, Bristol

logo IIClient: JB + two teenagers.

Their home: 4 storey terraced townhouse, built 100 years ago.
JB had lived here for 21 years, her children were born here, and she had recently separated from her husband.
She wanted to sell the house and move on.
It had been on the market for several months, and although it was beautifully presented (my client is an interior designer) there was little interest and no decent offers, during uncertain economic times.

The consultation:

This was a space clearing of the stagnant imprints accumulated over the years, from the ups and downs of family life. It helped to neutralize the space so that any prospective buyer could sense themselves living here.
Afterwards the house felt calm and quiet, lighter and clearer.
The house was put back on the market and sold within a week for £31,000 over the asking price.

Client feedback:
The house has gone under offer with the best of four bids at £31,000 over the asking price!!!

The estate agents are totally bemused in the current climate and say it is the best response they have had to a property in 18 months of a declining market!

It was previously on the market from June to November with no decent offers, then went on the market again last week, after the space clearing, with an ‘open house’ starter day last Saturday. We had three offers on it by the Monday after, and went until Friday for best and final bids. It has gone under offer with the best of four bids at £31,000 over the asking price!!!

I am totally sure that Space Clearing had a big influence over the house sale for so much response from only 15 or so viewings, so a big thank you and I will get you to do the new place for me too!
